BERNE, Sydney (1921- ) Born in Toronto, Ontario, Berne studied at the Central Technical School of Art in Toronto under Carl Schaefer and Peter Haworth. He studied sculpture with Florence Wyle and then worked in the commercial art field. Berne later studied in London and Paris with Abstract Expressionist Paul André. He is known for his Montreal and Toronto street scenes and Quebec landscapes and farm scenes, which he paints in oil and watercolour.
